A comprehensive, forty-hour course for directors and administrators of child care programs and an award for demonstrated mastery of administration skills

What They're Saying About the NAC...

"This course was the most comprehensive and relevant I have ever had. Best money I ever spent!"

"Although I've been a director for over 20 years, I learned so many new things in this course. I would highly recommend it for every director."

"This was a wonderful experience. I have made some new friends that I will keep in touch with for years to come. I can't wait to see them again. Can't we have another class next year?"

"Wish I had had this course years ago! It was just great! Our instructor was so knowledgeable and so understanding. I feel completely re-energized. I'm going back to school with a To-Do list five pages long!"

The NAC Candidate

Administrators of child care centers, preschools, family day care homes, and after school programs are all candidates for the National Administrator Credential. The broad curriculum is divided into nine professional competencies, each composed of specific skills for mastery and covering all aspects of an administrator's responsibilities. The candidate new to the profession will be taught all the skills needed to succeed from the start. The seasoned professional will learn many new ideas and clever solutions to old problems. Candidates for the NAC are expected to have experience working directly with young children and to be able to demonstrate an understanding of child growth and development. The NAC is the only national credential specifically for childhood care and education administrators. When you earn your NAC, you will join the ranks of tested, professional child care administration experts across the U.S. and you will have an opportunity to join the "NAC Network" - an organization for credentialed administrators which provides you continuing opportunities for sharing ideas and improving your skills.

The NAC Course

The basic NAC course consists of over forty hours of classroom instruction, practice, and evaluation. Students are expected to complete projects and reading assignments between classes. Each class is made up of candidates from a variety of childhood care and education programs and their diversity enhances the learning atmosphere and networking possibilities. The course is recommended for 3 semester hours undergraduate credit by the American Council on Educations. Most state child care licensing agencies approve the course for training credit. In addition, the NAC has been reviewed and approved for 3 college credits by ACE-Ponsi. These credits are accepted at thousands of colleges and universities in the United States. Credentialed administrators will be required to submit evidence of 20 hours of NAC-approved training every two years in order to maintain credentialed status.

Cost

The cost of the National Administrator Credential is $525 per candidate. This fee includes the 40-hour course taught by an NCCA trained instructor with practical management experience, an information-filled student manual, all learning materials, credential certificate and pin, and one full year's membership in the "NAC Network" when you successfully complete the course. Oklahoma DHS has a scholarship available. For scholarship information please call 1-800-580-4181. The full fee is due when you register. Should you need to cancel, you must do so at least 10 days before the course begins. No refunds can be made after that time. A $75 cancellation fee will apply.
